The content editor allows you to create links that open in a popup display when clicked on. There are several different types of popups that can be inserted into an article which include Image Popups, Media Popups, and YouTube Popups. You can also group popups together to allow viewers navigation between them.
Inserting Popups
To insert a popup into an article:
- Select some text or an image to apply the popup link to
- Click the "Insert/Edit link" icon in the text editor
- Enter in the link to the target page in the URL, or browse for it using the Link Browser
- Click on the "Advanced" tab
- Type "jcepopup" in the "Classes" field
- Follow the instructions below to create different types of popups
- To group several popups together so viewers can navigate between them in the popup screen:
- Go to the advanced tab.
- Select "Add value" from the Relationship Page To Target dropdown list.
- Enter the group name in the field provided. Note: The group name you type will NOT appear in the selection dropdown bar so you must type this for every item that you group together.
Image Popups
To create an image popup:
- Upload the image you want to insert to your site (click here to learn how)
- In the "Link" tab of the "Insert/Edit link" window click the browse icon
- Find and select the image you want to insert
- Enter the width, height, and title of the image in the "Title" field seperating the attribute name and value with brackets, and each attriubte by a sem-colon, eg: width[640];height[480];title[Image]
- Click "Insert" when finished
Media Popups
To create a media popup:
- Upload a media file using the media manager (click here to learn how)
- Inserting media requires you to specify what type of file you are inserting as a popup. Click on the Advanced Tab and enter the media type in the "Target MIME type" field. Possible values are:
- flash for flash files including flv players
- quicktime for Quicktime movies etc.
- windowsmedia for Windows Media Player files.
- real for Real Audio/Video files.
- divx for DivX files.
- director for Shockwave/Director files.
- Enter the width, height, autostart options, loop options, and title of the media file seperating the attribute name and value with brackets, and each attriubte by a sem-colon, eg: width[640];height[480];autostart[true OR false];loop[true OR false];title[My move]
- Click "Insert" when finished
YouTube Popups
To create a YouTube popup:
- Open a new window or tab and go to the YouTube video you want to create a popup for
- Copy/paste the Youtube Video/MetaCafe link in the URL field
- Enter the width and height of popup, in the Title field, seperating the attribute name and value with brackets, and each attriubte by a sem-colon. If you wish to add a title and/or caption, include this as well, eg: width[640];height[480];title[My video]
- Click "Insert" when finished
