Understanding Sections & Categories

Content items or web pages are added to your site as articles. An article is the basic element in your website; it is the content the public sees when they click on a link or menu item.

Articles are contained in categories and categories are organized in sections. Think of it as a filing system: the section is the filing cabinet, categories are the drawers, and articles are documents in the drawers.

With this in mind, you can have several categories in the same section, and several articles in the same category. For example, in a section called "Info Center" there could be categories called "Tournament Schedules" and "Driving Directions" each with related articles. However, articles do not have to go into the filing system, they can be simply marked "Uncategorized."

You will also need to give your viewers a way to navigate through your site. To do this you can either show an article on the front page, or link it to a menu item (which is explained in Creating Menu Items For Article Pages).

In  this tutorial you will learn how to create sections, categories, and articles.
